I am travelling in the US at the moment and am using a local SIM card. I would prefer not to SMS from my local SIM but to use some sort of web to SMS service since the plan my SIM is on has data but no international SMS.

Does anybody know of a reliable (don't mind paying) site that can be used to send SMS to NZ cellphones, especially 2D since most of friends and family are on 2D?  Does 2D have something like that which VF does?

Thanks

Alas I am on 2D now so don't have a VF account even though I still have credit on the phone I cancelled. Maybe I should have kept a VF SIM going jist for that reason?

Tried that one but it doesn't seem to be able to send SMS to a phone that is roaming. This meant I could not get the validation SMS and therefore if I could send a SMS, it was limited to one an hour.

Skype offers SMS ability and even the option to show them as coming from your phone number, perfect solution?

Another option is bulletin.net who are NZ based and can reach all local networks directly.
