Warning Rant!

Does anyone know what the point of Orcons+ network coverage map? I am moving to a new place which seems to be smack bang in the middle of one of their coverage zones, yet they say they can not offer me a plan on the plus network!

Also as an aside does this mean I will not get ADSL2 on Orcon? Or is that independent of the plus network?

My router shows an ADSL2 connection so this is not unique to the ORCON+ network as I am not connected to an unbundled exchange.

It would be interesting to know what services Orcon offers that are exclusive to the Orcon+ network.

replying so I get notification when Orcon reply! :)

I used to live in a purple area for a while and that was one of the reasons I left Orcon - that I couldnt get an Orcon+ plan...

I definitely get ADSL2, just not Orcon+ ...

I seem to recall an Orcon customer services person telling me once something along the lines of "the map is wrong/out of date" well if that is the case then remove it from the website!!!???

It seems to be a common ISP/Telco problem - having coverage maps on their websites that dont actually make sense!

Its possible that you are in an area that has just had a new cabinet installed - and Orcon dont have gear in those cabinets so they cant offer their Orcon+ product.

Hi all,
The maps refer to the area covered by the unbundled exchange. Within this, as xpd notes, there are areas that have been cabinetised.
As you have found, people within unbundled areas really need to use our online address checker or call us to determine what service we can offer them.
As we note on the site, the map is indicative only.
Hope this helps.

The Orcon coverage maps only show what zones have LLu equipment installed, but it doesn't show cabinets.
