I find this quite funny, but impressed nonetheless. Yesterday I was 2km underground in the Manapouri Power Station. Lo and behold, I had between 1 and 3 bars of reception and while down there I managed to send txts/emails. On the other hand, driving between Manapouri and Te Anau, no reception at all. The same for Milford Sound. Would of loved to have had reception in Milford Sound.

Anywhere outside the main metro's where 2Degress have their own sites and you are roaming on Vodafone... So why should Manapouri be any different?

Yep I was. And to johnr, I thought that may of been the case. I just found it funny that way under ground I can txt etc but driving between Manapouri and Te Anau there is no signal, until you get close to Te Anau anyway

Vodafone have deployed a lot of 2100 3G sites for Transpower - there are many places literally in the middle of nowhere that have great coverage!
