One of the guys I work with has a Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5800).  He has gone on to the 2D site and sent himself the APN settings which arrived and were installed  however apart from being able to access the Internet  he can't  get MMS to work, outgoings say "sending"  and incomings say "receiving".   Also he is unable to  check  his account balance via *100#1# . When he  presses call  it says 'rejected" on the screen.

When he looks  at where the APN settings should be the screen is blank like there are none there.

Any ideas..   fone has been power cycled.

I have the same fone on Voda and APN settings are visible..

TIA

I'm sure it's unrelated, but try *100*1#.

Technically, the CORRECT invocation is indeed *100*1#. Many handsets will accept *100#1#, but some are strict and treat *100#1# as a voice call. So, you're right, try *100*1#.

The settings may have to be manually entered.

Tell him to check his settings against these -

1.    "Application" > "Settings" > "Wireless controls" > "Mobile networks" > "Access Point Names"

2.    If APN '2degrees isn't shown Press "Menu"> "New APN". Fill out the below fields:

 Name: 2degrees

APN: 2degrees

Proxy: 118.148.1.118

Port: 8080

Username: Blank

Password: Blank

Server: Blank

MMSC: Blank

MMS proxy: Blank

MMS port: Blank

MCC: 454

MNC: 12

APN type: internet

Authentiication: None

 "Save"

MMS Settings

1.    "Application" > "Settings" > "Wireless controls" > "Mobile networks" > "Access Point Names"

2.    Again, if 'mms' isn't shown Press “Menu” > "New APN"

Name: mms

APN: mms

Proxy: Blank

Port: Blank

Username: Blank

Password: Blank

Server: Blank

MMSC: http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090

MMS proxy: 118.148.1.118

MMS port: 8080

MCC: 454

MNC: 12

APN type: mms

Authentification: None

 "Save"

Hope this helps!

And just to add to ^POB comments/settings
Some handsets/devices are fussy with the ip address
You may need to use 118.148.001.118

Thanx.  The *100*1# worked on his fone.

Well he put in the APN settings manually and still no MMS. Same as yesterday. When he goes to Application" > "Settings" > "Wireless controls" > "Mobile networks" > "Access Point Names" he sees no APN names list just black so how is he supposed to make changes?"

Hi there,

If there are no APNs showing up under Application -> Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names, it sounds as though the settings aren't being saved at the end of the process as listed above.

Is it able to be confirmed whether or not after the above settings are entered, the soft touch button to the left of the home button is then being selected, and then the option 'Save' being used.

Cheers

Actually, yeah
On my Android I was stumped with this exact issue the first time - - - I had to hit the menu button after keying in all of the settings before being presented with a "Save APN" option.

Back to this again.

The guy next to me decided to get serious with this as he was sick of always paying for Voda and got his SIM number the same as his home number.

Problem is he still can't get both Internet and MMS to work at the same time.

Effort 1. using this link http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=66282 he input all manually and this time saved the settings. Internet OK no MMS
Effort 2. defaulted the APN entries and used the SIM download and installed both Internet then MMS.
Internet worked but not MMS.
Effort 3. deleted the APNs and downloaded the setting again and this time did MMS and Internet. MMS now works fine but no Internet. MMS now has the green icon..

Currently he has settle on this method using WiFi for any Internet access but not the best outcome.

Has he missed something here?? I had a go myself with the same results though I was successful setting up 2D on my non Android fone..

If the MMS APN has the green dot is has wrong setting. Probably the APN type is internet or default instead of (or in addition to) just mms?

Simplest way to get internet working is just to create a new APN, with nothing except 'internet' as the APN, and 'internet or default' (for Samsung I think it is internet) as the APN type, and make sure it is the *only* APN with 'internet' as the type. The green dot should then be next to the internet APN.

Thanx for the info.  That was what the settings were with effort 2.  Will pass the info on to him..
