I'm going to China for 2 weeks in April this year, as far as I browsed the website, it doesn't seem to be able to roam there.

Could someone help or let me know, if its possible to use my phone at China, if not when will be the earliest time to achieve this goal please?

Thanks

Hi I'm afraid we do not have a roaming partner in China as yet with no ETA at the moment.

Here's the places you can take your 2degrees phone with you - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/roaming

You can roam there on Telecom, not sure whether pre pay can, check on their website.

are you going to hong kong or china, china? hahaha

if i remember rightly china is really expensive for roaming, we were looking at going to hong kong last year and decided it was too expensive, so we just went to Australia.

might be best to pick up a local sim card?

i think they sell ones specificity for travellers

would recommend you just go and grab a local sim card
if you use a smart phone, then try the voip solution, divert all your calls to the voip number, so you can use the 3g service in china to handle all the nz calls

3G is fairly patchy in China as I understand it.

It's not the normal UMTS air interface that everybody else uses. See here.

No. I'm not a China expert though - there might be some more ordinary 3G coverage in some places. The point is I wouldn't rely on using VoIP over 3G to save money, at least not if you expect to be able to place & receive calls reliably. :-)
