Does anyone have this service at home?

Atm im getting:

2Mb/s Symetric 1:1
2Mb/s Sym 1:8
5Mb/s Sym 1:1
5Mb/s Sym 1:8

Priced up.

The 5Mb/s Sym 1:1 is usage based (100GB then $3 per GB after that) but the rest are AYCE if i understood what the guy was saying.

No shaping, Symetrical line, sub 10ms pings.

Looking at running the dedicated for business stuff + gaming (low low pings :D) and keeping my current dsl connection for day time downloading/general use.

Any opinions?

Well thats hardly new, Your basically buying CIR national and international transit to your door. It's always been an option if you had the $$$ to spend monthly

What city are you in?
i know that because im in napier it gets more expensive each time you pass a zone border going down the north island from auckland because of the telecom backhaul costs. Last time i got quotes it was double what it cost for the same connection in auckland from an auckland isp.

When you say 1:8, is that the down/up ratios. So a 5mb circut would be 5mb down, .62mb up?

A lot of the HSNS prices have dropped and a new 3Mbps plan introduced.

1:8 as in, up to 8 businesses could be using the same circ at any time.

1:1 being 100% dedicated.

Im in Taradale.

Oh I see, well thats pretty good then.
Auctually thats really good.
Iconz was quoting something like $1800 for a 2mbit decidated 1:1 about 12 months ago.

If you are a residential user i would go for the 1:8 on the theory that not many of those other 8 businesses would be using it after 5pm.

I might give them a call on monday and see if i can get a small block of IP's with it.
