A bit frustrating to see that Slingshot are still charging $50 to sign up with them for a "new account" although there is a 12 month term on the contract...was hoping this would be no $$'s to sign up...

Guess I'll be sticking it out with Telecom...

True and I agree, however the requirement here is simply a landline...with decent toll call rates...
No internet requirements (its for the parents...who dont want to be bothered by computers....no matter how much I persist...)

For $50 I can get over 300GB a month however as the OP says, its not the data hes after but a landline type phone with good toll rates.
