a web to txt sms message sent to my 2degrees mobile and my sisters 2degrees mobile and an Australian
mobile has been received numerous times by my sister.(other receivers were received once only) She has turned of the phone to stop the calls.
I rang 2 degrees help  but the rep could not help as it is not my number, she would not transfer me to another rep (she had language difficulties) and informed me no supervisors were available but someone would call me within 24 hours. Is there a simple fix? cheers George

Can you PM me with the message that was received by each phone, including the 2D number and times/date received.

What network is the Australian mobile roaming on Optus or Telstra?

Cheers

the web 2 txt was Voipbuster.
The web 2 txt may not be relavant as when I was in hospital late last year/Jan 2011 I had similar probelms sending multiple messages. It seemed the last number on the list(regarless of provider) got multiple messages for days. I had two 2 degrees mobiles both prepay Nokias.Gave up in the end.

I see. Well, I encourage you to read my post about how SMS works. And I shall at this stage point out yet again, that cut-rate SMS providers will have unpredictable results towards 2degrees.

This sounds to me like the web to text service's provider is terminating to 2degrees via SS7, but since we don't interconnect officially with them we do not have a return route for the acknowledgement of delivery from the handset. Thus the provider assumes the message was NOT delivered, and keeps trying for days.

But it could also just be that these guys are really buggy.

Grumpy hat on: cut-rate providers are responsible for a great deal of the annoying SMS spam people receive. Unsurprisingly spammers also prefer to pay lower rates. Hence, at best, we do not go out of our way to ensure they work properly, and in some cases actively block them when we detect them.

Unless the service provider is using a supported connection - and I don't think they are - there's little we can do other than to try to block them completely also.

i have read somewhere and vaguely remember the guy who setup this service has similar idea as to what mark shuttleworth did for ubuntu - provide cheap telco service for humanity. i have used voipbuster since 2007. it is very reliable and cheap! free calls to japan/singapore/new zealand is probably one of the best 'selling' point for me. i have never been charged inaccurately and voipbuster keep the whole logs of the credits and invoices that i have purchased since 2007.

sometimes, sms from voipbuster to overseas phone is more reliable than sending from 2degrees network Wink
