Just wondering if/when 2degrees are going to release a coverage map tool similar to that of Vodafone and Telecom?

Hi nzpilot, they have one already:

http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/broadbandzones

Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown are the only places that 2 Degrees have their own towers, and those are the maps for them.

Outside of those regions, refer to the Vodafone map because you will roam onto Vodafone when outside of the above zones:

These are nowhere near as detailed as what the other telcos offer. It would be really good to be able to zoom in or determine coverage at a particular street address.

It's interesting that the Wellington map appears to show big fat dead spots in Seatoun and Houghton Bay/Southgate which isn't a good look.

alasta I've only used the Vodafone one but it's rubbish. Can you *really* determine coverage on a particular part of a particular street using a zoomed in map?

Ultimately with 2 Degrees it only costs $5 to find out definitively how good the coverage is in any given place. With the others it costs $30.

What isn't clear from those maps is whether you roam onto Vodafone in big fat dead spots or whether this is determined to be an area outside coverage.

Well those particular areas are quite clearly within the city of Wellington and from my understanding that would make them ineligible for national roaming coverage.

Yeah these maps aren't particularly helpful:
