I've noticed over the past 2 nites that usenet (news groups) feeds have gone from a slow 2Mbits to about 300Kbits or less at around 8.00pm . Starts fine as Orcon ever gets but this is getting ridiculous. It's not just one news server it's all three that I use. Currently I'm getting around 200Kbits and the news servers are timing out due to lack of bandwidth.

Local speed test says local down 14.73Mbits down and to San Jose, CA 3.88Mbits.

Anyone else experiencing this??

I've noticed it but the drop on some nights but it isn't to bad, generally down to 700KB/s instead of the normal 1400KB/s

I've noticed this too. Get SSL encryption with your usenet provider it might help?

Mine is now back up around 14mbits

It's not unsurprising at all that unattended bulk downloads by http, usenet and bit torrent are given lower priority in peak times.

Would you rather they slow down general web/email, voip, gaming during congestion?
