I'm about to join Orcon's best deal ever plan.

I get my tv shows from torrents (P2P)  ....

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10719055

Will this law prohibit me from using the service ?

I don't wanna be fined or have my connection closed because of it.

Tv shows aren't like movies and songs are they ?

Grr.

Unfortunately they are. Any copyrighted material you get from unapproved (illegitimate) sources, you may be liable.

Sorry ;)

Same thing. It is not where you getting it from but the fact that you are getting it, which breaks the existing copyright law.

*cough* illegal is illegal no matter what the source *cough*

Also, discussing the acquiring of material illegally is not allowed here. Nor is discussing of circumventing any systems used to prevent the illegal gain of copyrighted material.

And yes, TV shows are just as copyright protected as music and movies.

And it appears that the NZ FTA networks know it so they pull the shows and give us the one fingered salute in the process..
