A couple of my friends including myself ported our vodafone number to 2degrees awhile ago.
I recently noticed these ported number don't have caller ID.
When they call me, the phone just display that the calling party as unknown without names or phone numbers, which is kinda frustrating when you don't know who is calling you really, and I can not call back if I missed any calls.
I set my phone with the network default option for calling ID etc.
The "unknown" number and names problem did not happened with original voda, 2d or telecom numbers.

Any one know what's going on there?

Thanks

Have you tried enabling CID rather than just using the "default" setting?

CID is for my outgoing calls isn't it?
It is meant to display my numbers to others???

Steve is probably right. My wife's number is ported, and there are no problems with CLI for her.

I have my 021 on 2degrees with no issues so it works. I suggest you call the 2degrees customer care number and see what they can suggest.

I have a number ported almost every way possible and they all work for outgoing caller ID. If they did not I would be on to it quickly as because people usually ignore withheld calls to them.

There are GSM standards for CID and virtually every phone has these options within the menu somewhere. If your (or your friends) phone has CID disabled within the menu then outbound calls will block the CID.

The OP's point is that his own phone settings won't make a difference in this case (receiving calls). But you are right that his friend should check their phone's CID settings - although 'network default' is correct.

wanghou168 do your friends see your CID when you call out to friends (in this case your CID settings would matter, but again, 'network default' is the right one)?

Hi, does it happen on all or just a few contacts? Check if you have the same number against more than one contact or in a different format, i.e. John 0211234567 and John S +64211234567. It can happened when you copy contacts from SIM to phone or vice versa.
