While I was in CHCH my partner rang me to say that the phone and internet wasn't working(Wednesday). She rang orcon who put her through all the usual steps and after that all failed they booked in a chorus tech for the following day. Tech came out and said that he believes I dont have a phone line connected at my house and that there is power going all the way from the exchange to my house and that he thinks the problem is to do with programming of some sort that he can't touch. I rang orcon with this info and they said they would escalate the fault and ring me back that day (thursday). Didn't receive any phone call back so I rang them today and gave the woman on the phone an earful and asked her to check that this has been escalated (to which it hadn't). After a 10min wait on the phone with her she finally got the assurance team or something and they said they are going to book in chorus to sort it out as they can't touch anything on the lines. So by the looks of it I am going to have crap internet speeds and no phone for at least 7 days. When I try ring my phone number from a cell it has a telecom message saying this phone number is disconnected. I am going shopping for a new ISP as it seems to be never ending crap with Orcon.
