Don't know why this happens when inserting a link.

Because when you paste a link you MUST include http:// in front of it otherwise browsers will default to the local domain. If you are using the rich text editor it warns about it. I say it's PBKAC...

So economies of scale is finally working out?!

Good to see that 2degrees is finally becoming an all round mobile operator. the $149 plan is a NZ first and the new text packs is great. A lot of changes; let them be small, are happening. Hope the other two can match/keep up!

it was only about a fortnight ago they said they couldn't reduce rates because of wholesale charges being so high

2/5/11
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=10722788

"2degrees' chief operating officer Bill McCabe argued its roaming charges reflected what it had to pay to Australian wholesalers.

He said 2degrees could not offer the same price as its competitors because it had "fewer natural partners" across the Tasman."

so presumably in the last two weeks they have managed to negotiate a ~80% discount on wholesale rates. Pretty impressive.
I look forward to telecom and voda negotiating similar discounts in the near future

The pricing is still the same on the 2degrees website.

When does this take affect?

2degrees has some amazing things since they launched, pushing the boundaries and being a market leader in pricing.

Let's hope Vodafone and XT follow suit, very shortly.

Anyone know who they did the deal with? Judging by the three countries and the rates, my best guesstimate is they've entered into some deal with Tru. I hope that means NZ-based Tru SIMs soon!

Yes, but are they actually making money? At the moment I think their main thing is getting as big a customer base as they can, and they are currently in a growth phase.
