My local DSE has the Optimus 2X (Tegra 2 chip) for $999 or less (cant remember) on a 2D $149/month plan.

I recall it was a nice phone when I played with it at CES earlier this year and it will have 2.3. Might be worth looking at versus the Galaxy II and other dual cores.

It's a brilliant handset. Beautiful screen, very fast. If they had this on Telecom New Zealand...

$999 outright. $629 on a Pay Monthly $129 or $149 24 month plan. Otherwise standard rebate amounts off if you want a lower plan.

Yeah $999 is the RRP atm. Can get it cheaper from an importer though

Actually, if you contact your favourite business dealer (hint hint) you can pick up the Optimus 2X for just $250 with a 24 month Pay Monthly $149 plan. :-)

Now THAT is more like it.

For the $629 i'd rather just pick one up from a store here

And then be without a contract.

That's look very compelling. I wonder how easy it is to upgrade to 2.3? That would be the big factor for me since without a trackball it's hard to edit on 2.2 and lower but with 2.3 the editing is much easier - so much so that I often don't use the trackball on my N1 anymore for editing.

[edit]

Read some online reviews. Some are quite high praise, others with some reservations.

What might stop me is the custom UI that LG are using having been so used to the native Google experience on the N1. For example when I use my colleagues Galaxy, I always stumble around trying to find my way around the bloatware and folders/menus that Samsung have on the phone.

I got my little brother to purchase his SGS through eking and had no issues. Not sure what they are like regarding warranty returns though.

That sounds great. I might go the same way. I guess the only question is warranty for the phone.

Since they are an NZ based store they have to abide by the Consumer Guarantees Act
