But not in NZ.
Will they be coming to 2d? or is it because they don't have 100% network yet they don't want to confuse people?

A lot of places have broadband but no 2degrees reception, or very poor connectivity. It would be awesome!

Femtocells outnumber cell sites? Where did you hear that?

Wouldn't be hard, eg VF have only 1000-2000 cell sites in NZ, to sell that many femotcells should be achievable, seeing as each household could buy one.

Globally they out rank cell sites. But not in NZ. In vodafone land I wouldn't think there would be more than 1000 sold esp when they expect people to have a vodafone connection too.

I think VF have about 18-1900 cell sites.

since a Femto is a kind of cell site, it is impossible for there to be more femtos than cell sites.  Tongue out

If you want to go down this path... if you have sold more than this I REALLY feel sorry for your customers!

Though I am about to spend the weekend in Ohakuni/National park where the vodafone signial is abismial. One of the few times I can still hate upon vodafone. Yet another place XT has service and there isn't any vodafone.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Can't see how it would confuse folk.
2degs must (by virtue of having the smallest network) have the network thats most stretched. A Femtocell offering to their customer base would help that immensely, and probably even increase their market share even in their own coverage areas..
And if you lived outside their current main centre network coverage surely it would enable you to stay 'on-net' when you're at home cuddled up to your femtoproduct.

How they handle that via a plethora of ISP's is I suspect the main issue

It's basically just a VPN back to the carrier. No special sauce.

Steve you really need to let the old chestnut go....

You start a post saying how great it would be for 2deg to have femtostuff, then cane VF for having them.....
You really need to get out more.

We have 100's of customers using Sure Signal where no carriers in NZ provide any mobile coverage in New Zealand,

If you actually look at the land mass that has mobile coverage its quite small,
