I'm going to Fiji next week. Do I need to do anything to make sure my 2degrees postpay phone will work over there? I won't be using it much, if at all, but it'd be nice to know it's there if I need it.

I see prices aren't far off extortionate, but guess this is because of what Fiji telecom companies charge, not because of what 2degrees charges. I feel like I should bend over every time I use my phone overseas.

Just turn data roaming off - at $30 per mb it wouldn't take much to get some bill shock.

No other setup required, just turn on the phone in fiji and take some heart medicine for your impending bill upon return to NZ.

You could get a local sim - you can pick up prepaid sims at the vodafone shop on your left just past customs area on your left.

You don't need to do anything - - The phone will roam

In case of an emergency it is a good idea to have some extra credit on your phone (unless you use autotopup or credit card)

The 2degrees helpdesk is +64 22 200 2000 but I think you get a text when you arrive advising you of that

Thanks guys. It's a "just in case" thing really, I don't plan to use any electronics while i'm overseas. I don't have a smartphone (not a huge fan) so it's not going to use data.
