Hi,

I recently purchased a gps tracker and am trying to install it.

To register, it tells me to send a sms with the mobile phone number to register as master number (easy...),tracker SIM card number (I just bought a $5 prepay 2degres) to the tracker SIM card number.

I tried it, but doesn t work, I tried a few other things, such as using the actual phone number instead of the sim card number......   doesn t work.....

So, 1st question : Can we send a txt to a SIM card number?

It says the SIM card should have a GPRS function, and when i spoke with 2 degres they told me their SIM have that fonction.

Thanks in advance.

Flo

Have you activated the sim card by calling 200?

As said... First insert the card into a handset, call 200 to activate the service, then you can use the line.

As for the "GPRS" function, remember that the GPS tracker will use mobile data to upload the information. You must find how much data is used, to then buy the appropriate data packs - otherwise the casual rate for mobile data will be quite expensive.

You buy mobile data packs by sending a SMS to a number with a special message. More details on their website.

Hi,

Tanks for your replies,
I called 200 to activate the card, so that wasn t the problem.
Are you syaing I need to buy a data pack, therefore , it won't work on a normal $5 prepaid card ?
I want to use the tracker mainly via the internet, just to see where are some of my vehicule and at what time, and also wihich route do they take....

You don't need to buy a data pack. It's just that if you don't buy it, the data usage for uploading the tracker's location is going to cost more. That's all.

ok,

I still can't register the number    I always get a text back saying      "Main number set successfully but registration failed (pls check) "

I have to send a sms "ZCA000000,mobile phone number to register as master number, tracker's SIM card number", to tracker SIM card number.

Is it posible to send a txt like that to a SIM card number ??

Thanks

I'd also advise you to Top Up your 2degrees SIM and buy one of these - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/prepay/pricing/value-packs/national-data.
