Anyone have any news on when these may be available? We have had to go back from 2degrees mobile broadband to vodafone as it was playing havoc with the accountant. Just want a bill alongside our mobiles at the end of each month for a data plan.

That came out last week; the data packs will renew with your plan.

From 5th July 2011, all Pay Monthly Value Packs (except International Roaming and 3GB & 12GB Mobile Broadband Value Packs) now automatically renew every month on the day you get your 2degrees bill.

So, if you have a billing date of 1st August, and you purchase a 1GB Data Pack ($20) on 15th July you’ll receive a 1GB Data Pack on 15th July that is valid for the standard 1 month. You will then receive another 1GB Data Pack on 1st August, (i.e. the pack will auto renew on your billing date). It’s also valid for the standard 1 month. For 15 days you will effectively have access to two packs (note all data will use the oldest pack first). From then on the pack will auto renew on the first of each month (your billing date).

International Roaming Packs and our 3GB and 12GB Mobile Broadband Data Packs don’t auto renew.

If you’re subscribed to a pack and use it all before your next bill, you can buy a one-off pack of the same type (one-off packs won’t auto renew).  If you want to change the pack type that renews each month, first stop the existing one, and then buy the new one.

e.g. If you have a 50MB National Data Pack recurring each month but decide you want 100MB instead, stop the 50MB pack by texting STOP 50MB to 233 or, through Your2degrees. Then buy the 100MB pack by texting buy 100MB to 233 or through Your2degrees.  You’ll receive a confirmation text message each time you stop or buy a pack, so you know that it’s gone through.

You can now manage your Value Pack subscriptions as well as see all the value packs you are currently subscribed to, in Your 2degrees.  You can also unsubscribe from a pack at anytime by simply texting STOP and the pack name to 233.

Value Packs purchased before July 5th 2011 won’t auto renew.

Here’s a summary of the changes:

I believe he means a separate postpay plan that has only included data, rather than a 'normal' one with minutes, SMS & data, which can buy data packs.

Yup that's the one ;). Not much point buying a voice connection just so that we can get the datapack billed as part of our monthly invoice.

I wondered how they would handle the realignment of the data pack renewal cycle, and what you've described here effectively penalises the customer by forcing them to purchase a new data pack before the old one has expired or been exhausted.

I'm also puzzled as to why they have included the 1Gb plan for auto-renewal, but not the larger plans. This is going to cause a lot of confusion.

I am on the $39.95 plan If I were to switch to the $59.95 plan I wonder if I would I get the 1G bonus data for a month?

If you're upgrading to the $59 or above plan between 8th July and 4th Sept, yes you will get the 1GB bonus.

Re the larger packs not auto renewing, they do not run on a month by month (2 months and 6 months basis) so it was decided to remove these from 'autorenew'.  Customers are notified when these packs are running low and can buy them as and when they need them.

WHat happens to the 100mins extra we are getting?  Is that cancelled instead giving the 1GB?

@SteveON - If your device is unable to receive SMS then you'll have to keep an eye on your usage in Your 2degrees.

@itxtme - If you're upgrading to the $59 plan or above between now and 4th Sept you'll keep your 100 bonus minutes as well as receiving 1GB of National data. Move to a $89 plan and you'll get 200 bonus minutes. Noice!

I am bit of dilemma here. I have 100MB on the $39.95 plan and find that I am trending to going over unless I am very careful. I can usually take care of that with either a $6 50MB pack or $10 100MB pack. The regular plan with 250MB of data would probably do me but that means I would spend an additional $10/month over my current plan and one data pack. I know there are additional minutes in the $59.95 plan but I find the current plan minutes more than adequate.

It would be good (since 2D is becoming so innovative and creative in its offerings) to have dual choice plans. For example the $59.95 plan could offer 210min/150MB as now or 120min/300MB recognising the fact that with increased smart phone usage, people value data more than they value minutes.  You can turn data into minutes through VoIP services but you can't substitute minutes for data.

I know if folks sign up now to the $59.95 plan they get an additional 1G of data but that's only for one year. And after a year of having that available and potentially changed one's usage behaviour to take advantage of 1G of data (for example Google Music) to have it wrenched away is going to be traumatic :-(

It's better IMHO to have a plan you know that has constant data allocations and you adjust your usage accordingly.

Ahhh one of our workers is in Wellington at the moment on work and I gave him the 2degrees wifi modem so he could get internet access. It was working then stopped and we couldn't figure out why.

After talking to the boss she had put a bar on the auto charging of the credit card because apparently 2 degrees had been charging it willie nille (3x $20 on one day) and she had thought someone had stolen the credit card so instructed the bank to put a bar on payments.....

grr should never have let the rep talk us into switching from Vodafone to 2degrees data service!!!

Willy-nily? Was auto topup turned on? If you don't want it to charge the credit card you just don't sign up for auto topup.
