Why is the new 'half price broadband for 6 months' offer only available to new customers?  I'm an existing Slingshot customer who is no longer on a contract, shouldn't we also be able to take advantage of the offer if we are happy to sign up for another 12 month contract?  Most other ISP's let their customers do this...whats to stop us from just cancelling our membership then signing up again to get the new offer?

because they wouldn't make any money offering it to existing customers.

You could ring them up and tell them you will cancel and resign.
There is one person I have seen do this and got the new offer.
So ring them.

I tried ringing, as well as sending an e-mail...the response I got was the offer is only available to new customers, not existing customers.  Apparently a few other people are calling up and asking about it though...so maybe they will change their mind.  It seems crazy to have to cancel the membership and re-sign.

Keep at them, tell them you want to quit your connection and resign.
They should be able to work out an arrangement that will be cheaper than them having to pay for a disconnection and re-connection.

Call in and ask, I'm sure if you're out of contract and willing to resign there's something they'll be able to do ;)

Mine would have been a resign anyway since I would be going from naked to having a useless phone and the flatrate plan.

Just changed my Slingshot plan plan to the new 6 month half priced plan. I have been an existing customer whose 12 month contract just expired. When I phoned to enquire changeing, as I was an existing customer the nice lady offered me a $25.00 credit on my existing account. I said, why would I except that when the savings from changeing to the half priced plan was far greater. She said I would loose services for up to 10 days while I was changed to the new plan. (hmmm, I thought to myself, lets see how far this will go) I asked what would happen if I needed to make an emergency call. Stunned silence, then, we would put you on the urgent list to get upgraded asap. Okay I said, lets go ahead and change plans. slight pause, I'll just go and talk to my supervisor.
After a few minutes the nice lady came back and advised I could be changed over to the new half priced plan with no loss of services on my next billing cycle.
Well done Slingshot. Can't say much more than that.

They couldnt do it seemless for me going from naked to PSTN and flatrate so was going to have to wait till I had the other connection on, since there would be an undertermined outage while they changed things.

Gonna flag it, the half price doesnt cover the unwanted PSTN line which is insanely expensive, and I should be able to get enough down with just constant buying of the snap offpeak packs which I hope they will automate the purchasing of as forgetting to buy one could be very expensive.
