Had a couple of text based notifications recently on my 2degree's mobile that have come from an ALPHA source. These were for events I'm attending, but I don't want the text based reminders, and I never ticked a box to say I wanted to be notified by text in the first place.

So how can I find out the originating service provider of the text message so that I can get these messages blocked.

We don't allow premium partners to send MT messages with alphanumeric source addresses. Apart from anything else a limitation in the way the IN handles them internally means we can't bill for them properly.

So, any that you ARE receiving are not being delivered through a channel we have control over. They'll be coming in via international SS7. PM me your number and we'll see if we can track it down, but no promises - we might not be able to block the foreign SMSC without too much collateral damage.
