So here I am about nearly 1 year from last time with constant disconnects.

Anyone around the CBD/Central Auckland area getting lots of these tonight/recently (Last fortnight)?

Disconnect, disconnect etc etc etc Always the fail on the DNS server cannot be found error. Not a modem/hardware/cable error, so please leave those comments to check them first - checked and work on alot of other various locations (However used on other ISPS throughout the week).

Getting sick of this again... can't even play any games in the evenings with out disconnections and now basically that destroys your goals and costs $$$ for per say games that reflect on Stats (HON) where you have to pay to get your Leaver/Disconnect abolished.

Think I can quote Orcon for this? Might actually try and forward it to the News Paper, genuine error from their end.

=)

Cheers.

More detail, is this a Orcon+ connection (LLU, Orcon gear in the exchange) or non plus?

Are disconnections happening only in games, only in certain games or the internet connection actually disconnects in the modem/router?

There is a high probability it's one of only two likely causes - neither of which are Orcon's fault. The imformation you've provided is insufficient to really provide any help.

You need to look at your modem stats to see if the DSL sync is being lost. If it is there is probably a 90% + chance the issue is your domestic wiring causing the issues.

If it's the modem locking up it'll be because it's poor quality and choking on excessive PPS through the router while gaming.

water in the line is a pretty common problem, and will cause constant disconnects.

Generic replys, thanks anyhow.

Search my previous posts, did enough elaborate details in the past and not going to go over it all again.

Disconnects have stopped as of the last 24 hours, atleast not getting 12+ a day again.

I doubt it is domestic wiring, Telecom never had these issues here, nor did Xnet, low and behold Orcon does and they tried to justify it was my modem forever in a day; sadly the guy across the Hall with the Modem rented from them, was experiencing the EXACT same issues. And to make it even more ironic with the apartment wiring, my friend on Domion Road Mt Eden and another friend towards Mt Albert/Owairaka had the same issues too.

Uncanny really isn't it.

Disconnects from games, webpage, email, internet banking - the whole connection.

As for those who keep ringing up and they do not return the calls or reply. Simple do not pay your bill for a month or two, write a letter to the Quality Commission or Email/Contact a CSR there and explain your issue.

They still have my account fawked and yet no return calls, I even asked the fukkn CSR to return my call and he agreed, two weeks ago from this coming Wednesday.

Bad ISP is bad 2011.

Yes they are generic replies, because without you providing detailed information there is nothing else we can do.

You need to tell us whether the issues are DSL sync drops or router lockups. Router lockups with excessive traffic caused by low end routers having very low PPS routing capabiltiies is a very common issue. This issue has nothing to do with the ISP.

Wiring is a very common denominator when it comes with DSL issues and is the root cause of a vast majority of issues. I was even speaking to somebody yesterday who was trying to help with a friends DSL issues. Unplugging a Panasonic cordless phone resulted in a 10x increase in the DSL sync speed.

This is the wrong attitude to take if you want help from people who post here on their own time.

Still sounds like a modem, line or wiring fault, these do develop over time.

Well looks he's banned now for his name calling in various threads however if he took a cold shower then calmly worked through the issue with Orcon people either via Twitter, GPForums or the helpdesk he'd get to the bottom of the issue.
