The timing of the disconnects can be very random but usually happens in the evening. When logging into my router the connection speed will show as 0 kbps up and down. Often enough it still shows me as connected and having an external IP address assigned but still 0 kbps sync rate.
One thing that has made it very frustrating is that I can go for weeks without the connection dropping at all but when it does starting happening it is very frequent often to the point of the connection dropping within 5 seconds of it reconnecting. This will often go on for hours making the internet unusable. Today I have probably have about 5 minutes uptime since 12pm.
Now I have been through all the usual troubleshooting steps, I have paid to have the wiring within the house replaced, I have been through 5 or 6 different modems and technicians have been sent to the exchange on multiple occasions. I have had interleaving switched on and off multiple times and well as been moved to a different port. But it still keep happening.
Snap have been very good but I get the feeling that they are very limited to what the guys from Chorus will do. For example the last time they requested a technician to look at things, the guy saw interleaving had been turned off and decided that was the issue and wouldn't take it any further.
Previous to Snap, I was with Orcon and the best solution they had was for me to move to a different house, obviously I didn't take kindly to that stupid suggestion.
I have now hit the limit of my paitience and just want something done about this mess, trying to live without a reliable internet connection is just a nightmare.
Oddly, today for the first time I caught something while I had the connection stats window in the router open, it happened just as the connection dropped and lasted all of 2 seconds, but luckily I was able to hit the print screen key. See below...
