OK so for the last 6 weeks I have had a couple of problems with my internet

1. Frequent disconnections of my modem with the exchange (up to 25 per day)
2. My connection remaining connected with the exchange but no data coming down. Windows reports internet connected no data.

I logged a fault with Orcon when my internet went totally dead 6 weeks ago phone line was ok but no modem connection at all.

Initially orcon were good and got a Chorus tech to sort it out very quickly. He found 2 physical breaks in the line outside my property this fixed the dropped connection issue but not the "no data state" issue. Over the next 2 1/2 weeke chorus was pretty much full time at my house trying to diagnose the remaining fault on my line. The tech even tried to use his pc and modem to connect to the net and got nada. This semi randomly seems to happen all day in the weekend and 7-11pmmost evenings my connection would stay up but no data would come down.

I tried several routers and pc's on the connection and no dice. Eventually I got a tech who phoned up during a no data outage and we managed to get me to log into the exchange with their tester accounts 3 of them  - whoohoo suddenly I can download data. when i logged out and logged in with my details back to "no data"

So it must be my account configuration or somnething on their end.

For the last 3 weeks I have been trying to get them to sort it out. The tier 2 guys seem to want to just close the fault ticket. I have rung orcon probably 7-8 times to get movement on this fault. Each time I have to explain everything to the call centre person and get assusances that they are on the case....... then nothing happens. I spend 150 a month on the net and am frankly pretty close to taking my business elsewhere.

I have to say Orcons response to my faults have been pretty average over the last few weeks and I am really struggling to get accross to them I JUST WANT THIS FIXED YOU ARE THE TELECOM PROFESSIONALS SORT IT OUT.

I am getting tired of ringing up and asking for some bloody service from their organisation. So I am nearly ready to go elsewhere if they dont fix it. Can anyone reccomend a good isp with reasonable speeds and rates I am on a 50g plan

Thanks
and Orcon sort out your game or kiss my 150 a month goodbye

Telecom retail - none of this username password BS to get a PPP session.
top speed (sync rate) 24/7 no issues ... and generally no more expensive than anyone else (whats $10 a month if the difference is getting the service you are paying or ... or not)

Make sure you have contacted orcon to let them know you have moved on or they will keep billing you.
