So after roughly 4 years with a smaller ISP and had enough with traffic shaping during peak hours after they changed to telecom wholesale route, I decided to switch to Orcon.

On 31 July I got
Thanks for choosing us! We’ve got your order for OrconGenius and we’re working on it.

We’ll send you another email shortly to let you know what day your new service will be up and running.

ORDER NUMBER xxxxxx

YOUR USERNAME xxxxxx

YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER xxxxxxxx

I didn't receive any email "shortly" so I emailed their support after 2 weeks. They confirmed my connection is due on 18 Aug and modem should be delivered in a week.

I can login orcon "my account" but the only subscribed service is a "Mail Service (Free Basic Mailbox)"

Yesterday I still got nothing, no email or modem, so I emailed their support again.

Here is the highlight. After 2 and half weeks, I got this from Orcon support:

Regarding your order placed, How have you placed the genius order?

Online?
Via our sales agents?

Please advise as it appears I can not locate your provisioning order for genius.

So far for first impressions.

I kept getting the "How are we doing" emails when they weren't doing that well.

Then a week after my change over and not having the equipment I got a "we see you haven't yet connected yet - any problems?" text.

Great ideas, but no response to my replies to those communications.

Left and right hands not knowing what's going on is the problem here. Or maybe a case of no hands at all.

All I can say that so far after being connected and up and running it runs sweet, great speeds and phone works real well. I like that I can log into the router and see what calls have been made, received and missed. Let's hope it continues to work well as I shudder to have to go through the nightmare of contacting customer support again.

Good luck, it should work out in the end, but could test your patience first
