Hi everybody,

Have got tired of being on hold with Orcon now for over 50 minutes and so decided to come here for help.

We have been with Orcon for quite a few years and recently we started getting problems with the internet not connecting intermittently. Managed to get hold of someone in Orcon and was told that our router was faulty and we needed a new one so they would send one out. 4 days later we got the new one.

This is a BoBLite 4-port Wireless VoIP modem
LAN MAC: 78A051036CCC
WAN MAC: 78A051036CCE

We connected it and enetered the username/pwd etc and the internet started working just fine.

Then we realised that while we were able to make outgoing calls, no one could call in to us.

Our phone line is with Telecom as it has always been for the duration of the time we have been at this residence (Over 5 years).

All the filters and everything that was there before we got this new modem still exists so the only new thing is the modem.
As soon as we remove the internet connection from the wall jack then we can receive incoming.

Is there some setting that needs to be tweaked here or what should we do..any help would be appreciated.

cheers

hmm sounds odd to me.

Sounds like an internal wiring issue.

So you have Orcon ADSL and a normal phone line, the replacement router is a Genius, which is trying to connect to a VOIP enabled line perhaps? Can the VOIP side of things in Genius be completely disabled maybe?

when i log into the adsl router, it shows a red "x" next to the VoIP icon and mouse over shows that "VoIP is not registered, please check if the account is registered correctly"

Are you plugging your phone into the port on the side of the modem, or still into the wall jacks like you did in the past?

You won't be able to use the existing wall jacks any more for phone service, and you will not need to use line filters.

Hi Gangsta

Yes, not sure why you were plugging into the side of the modem for, as you don't have a genius account. Your phone would have remained on the existing phone service.

Glad you got it sorted.
