I moved to a new house in North Shore and needed a broadband, decided to go with Orcon Genius and registered online. Got messages that I will be connected after about two weeks which confirmed later is 24 August 2011. Received the GeniusLite modem at about 19 August. Tried to connect the modem on 23/08 evening and it is connected but VOIP was not going. I thought maybe because it is due to be not yet the connection date, so powered off the modem. On 24 August got a phone call from a Telecom guy saying that my phone is still the previous residents phone line (they forgot to disconnect their phone line with Telecom), he will need to give me another phone line (or something like that) and he came over checked that the phone line is still the previous resident's phone number hooked there. Then he went to the road side cabinet to re-wiring/patching for me then come back and told me it's all good. I connected the Genius modem and it has the ADSL and the Internet lights all blue which supposed to be connected to the internet. But when I connected my PC I couldn't go anywhere. The DNS is working and I logged into the modem and it has got an IP address, I can ping the DNS server but not any other IP addresses. So I don't know when the phone line is changed over will Orcon needs to do something? And of cause I called Orcon support with no answer like all the other fellows here complained. I sent an e-mail and got a reply saying it will be answered in up to 7 days. So I have no internet connection and don't know what to do. Can any good Orcon guys here help me please? Greatly appreciated.
Just tried to call orcon support and they are using a new answering system and after I selected Genius User then Tech Support (or Account) option it immediately disconnected me. So there is impossible to get any help from the great Orcon?
There are a few of the Orcon staff on this site, and they do help out where they can. Im sure one of them will see your post.... your other option is to try them via Twitter.
In the meantime, whats the DNS etc your router is showing ? Is your PC set to DHCP ?
