Got a bit of a weird issue, my wife has gone to Perth on holiday. When she landed her phone worked fine on the Optus network, sending and receiving texts fro me for a couple of days. Then I stopped getting her texts - mine still go through to her ok but I don't get anything she sends back.

Both of us are on 2 degrees pre-pay, She's on a ported 027 number, I'm on a ported 021 number.

There are probably so many reasons why the texts are only going one way, but weird that they worked ok for a couple of days before falling over.

Any suggestions?

I was going to suggest to the wife that she picks up a local pre-pay sim, but her phone is a bit tough to change the sim on.

Can she roam on another provider in Aussie? Try Vodafone or Telstra?
Ring 2degrees customer service see if they can help?

Has she got credit on her account?

A smart phone with data still turned on could have sucked the pre pay account dry!

Good suggestions - I'll try and talk her through changing networks next time we talk on skype.

Also have taken your suggestion and sent through a top up to her phone, she had credit when she left and she's pretty good with not using data unless she's on wifi. It's a Nokia so it's pretty economical with data usage under normal conditions.

You'll only be able to roam on Optus at the moment. I don't think VHA is open yet, and Telstra is closed. You need to find out if she's receiving any error messages. If the she got 'message sent' then the SMSC has received the message and as long as she's not out of credit there's no reason it should not be reaching you. Might just want to double-check that she *does* have credit, it's 79c/message.
