I'm having problems where my incoming calls go straight to voicemail, most of my outgoing calls fail, sending text messages fail, data service is coming and going.

It could be my phone as my other 2 Degrees phone works OK but the other phone has an 021 number so not it is not exactly the same setup.

Is anyone else having problems in Wellington?  I'm near the stadium.

First thing I'd suggest is rebooting your phone, turn it off for a minute, it maybe confused and having problems latching onto the network after travelling between cells.

If the problem persists pop the SIM your other phone to see if it's does the same and please PM your details including phone make/model and the exact location where this is happening.

Thanks, turning it off for a whole minute (instead of off and straight on) seems to have cleared the problem.

Nope, no problems today either in the CBD right beside parliament or in Johnsonville this morning. The only problem i've had recently is network overloading in JV Sunday evening, but it wasn't for long.

This is another thread that didn't need to be made, this issue happens on all three networks. Used to happen all the time on XT.

Feel free to ignore it then.

I find that occasionally my Internet connectivity just goes dead, requiring me to switch airplane mode on and off to reset the connection. Having done that it usually takes two or three minutes to cycle through from "no service" to EDGE and eventually to 3G.

Vodafone used to be notorious for data freezing problems, but 2degrees appears to have been suffering from this only over the last six weeks or so.

I've had that too, ever since I got my Android phone last year.  It seems to have become slightly worse recently, I always thought it was a phone problem though.

I have also noticed this around Wellington. It is usually after passing through an area of low or no signal e.g. deep in a building, a coverage dead spot, etc

That could be my problem, I was in Raetihi this weekend and that is one big 2 Degrees/Vodafone dead spot!

I had this yesterday? or the day before, could not return a call to my partner. Both of us were in Wellington(CBD/Te Aro), and on VF. It also affected the partners mother, on 2D in Porirua making outgoing calls to anymore.

As above, a simple power down and up again solved the problem.

It must be Paul Reynolds out flying his black helicopters again!

I don't know why but my first power on/off didn't do the trick, it was only the second time when I waited for a minute that it worked.  I don't know if the "wait a minute" was just a coincidence or not.

I also had problems last week where people rang me and the 2 Degrees voicemail system hung up before they could leave a message.

How about you leave calls like these, up to us as mods?

Update: Looks like my phone is stuffed, Paul's helicopter must be fitted with an EMP that destroys phones that operate on any frequency not used by the XT network Cool

Here's the final update.

The phone was sent back twice to the repairer who was unable to reproduce the fault.  Fortunately it was quite easy to reproduce in the shop and thanks to 2 Degrees I now have a shiny new microsim if I ever decide to go down the Apple route.

When the phone came back faulty the second time with a note from the repairer saying they couldn't reproduce the fault 2 Degrees just replaced the phone.  Great service from the crew at 2 Degrees on Customhouse Quay. :)
