A few months ago I purchased the 2D 3G USB modem with data pack. But it's never been used. I find now it would be much better to have the pocket WiFi adapter. I wonder if I could take the USB modem back to a 2D store and have them take a credit for it so I can purchase the pocket Wifi adapter?

SaltyNZ - what do you thinkt?

Thanks

As per http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=88572 the pocket wifi is no longer available.

And in any case, that's not really my area. I work in core network design, not retail, so I can't tell you how much luck you might have trying to get a credit on the USB stick.

Thanks. Well as noted in the other thread, out of stock at 2D stores and DSE also. I hope they come into stock again since they look more useful that the USB solution which cannot be shared.

I guess I will eat the cost of the USB one and wait to see if the wifi version comes back into stock.

[EDIT]

Harvey Norman had them on display (empty boxes) which gave me some hope - alas false since they had no stock and were waiting for 2D to restock. I guess that's not going to happen.

How about one of these from ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-150M-3G-WiFi-WAN-Router-Modem-Wireless-Broadband-/170701250743?pt=COMP_EN_Routers&hash=item27be9660b7
Around NZ$50 including delivery from Hong Kong

I frequently buy small electronics items from ebay sellers based in Hong Kong and China.  Never had any complaints, and the prices are often a half or less than those on trademe.  Some risk re warranty etc, but for $50, worth a shot

Thanks saw them on Ebay. But they require a USB modem to work and there is no guarantee of compatibility with the modems 2 degrees sells made by Huawei.
