Have you tried basic troubleshooting approaches:

1) Check all cables are plugged in, and all cables are not damaged etc.
-Phones work ?

2) Restart modem/router.

3) Access modem/router via web interface:
-Check you have sync to a cabinet / exchange.
-line status up ?
-Username & pwd have the correct entries in ?

*Is the DNS settings correct ?  Can you ping www.google.com from cmd prompt ?

4) Tried another modem if applicable.

5) Called SS support:
-Line test performed.
-Port reset.
etc etc..

I keep having an ongoing issue with slingshot where PPP never comes up, just says something about LCP down in the status.

Annnnnyway, it seems that changing the username between @jetbuster.co.nz and @slingshot.co.nz and hitting connect a few times will make it come up, just hitting connect on its own doesnt help.

see if you can get some error stats and check crc errors

if it says line down or you watch it come up and then drop will give you some idea

line down is them unplugged it..

line coming up and down we had also.. when it rained lots seemed to
get wetness in a cable on street somewhere.. always came good when
it dried out problem never fixed though.. happens
randomly like that.. but lately it might drop and be slower
speed until it dries out

also a friend had a fauly router (4 port wireless).. telecom sent him a new one and fixed the probllem

but helps if got own spare one to check to confirm it..

i think his cat k9 bite through the cable from phone and maybe shorted it out enough causing damage
on the phone jack side of things

Unfortunately, i have a copper line overhead from across the road and in periods of really heavy rain it has been known to cause a problem, especially just afterwards for some reason.

Telecom used to come around and twiddle in the little grey pillar and fix things, i always wondered if they where robbing a line from someone else and sharing the problem.

cheers

Only got someone here by bagging then on facebook.

Times have changed!

So it's not a Chorus problem, back to Slingshot then?

I will spend tomorrow looking into broadband from another supplier or even just changing everything, I spoke to telecom they want NZ$100 + 60 and change to rejoin them or else go on a 12 month contract.

I am so over being on contracts.
