Is anyone else having connection speed problems at the moment?

We can do a local speed test and get 14+mbit down, but international less than a meg.

Trouble is EVERYTHING is very slow, like dial up slow - even for sites hosted locally in NZ (Such as Trade Me or Stuff). Exception being downloads, which once running seem to be normal speed.

I'm wondering if it's a session initiation or traffic management issue, and the reason we get such a good NZ speed test result is due to that site being whitelisted?

Speeds are bad all times of day, not just at busy times. We have been on Genius a few weeks now, but has only got bad in the last week or so, and seems to be getting worse.

If there is someone from Orcon on here, would you be able to have a look?

I'v had this for weeks / months. The worst is when I try to do a high speed download (about 8Mbits) after several days of doing none about 5 minutes into the download the internet just stops. The PPP led is still on. I have to reboot the router to resume again and then it's fine for a few days..
