So I called Orcon yesterday to increase my data allowance.  I let them know that my billing cycle started fresh the next day and said I really needed to increase the allowance by then "no problem" I was told, he would action it right now.  This was to the accounts section.

The next morning I logged in and no.. still on the old allowance...

Called Orcon support, this time I went through to  technical support and told them what had happened and the guy said he could see a request had been put in but nothing had been done.  He put me on hold and went off to check with his team about it.. He came back about 5 minutes later to inform me he couldn't find anyone in his team.

I said I really needed the data this month and he said he would talk to them and ring me back soon.

Of course he never called back.

Really disappointing.  Have messaged a couple of orcon staff on here that have helped me in the past with issues but no reply and really its pretty sad that I should have to.
I really like orcon because the actual internet service is great but their customer service is seriously terrible.
Now I doubt it will kick in until the next billing cycle..

I mean here two people at orcon basically told me that something would happen and it didn't.

I seriously hate when people promise something and then don't do it.

anyway thats the end of my rant..

My experience has been in a similar vein.

I'm on a 100GB quota with Orcon. They won't change that unless I move my phone line to them. I'm not moving my phone line to them. They can't offer me the unbundled service where I live and I see no point in having a Telecom line wholesale...I already have one direct.

So I'm going to have to find a new ISP.

Anyone able to recommend one?

You have a Telecom line direct, and seem not to want to change that, so... Telecom.  Actually, that's likely your only option.  For some reason no ISP wants your unprofitable broadband service without your profitable homeline and tolls (ever notice that only Telecom allows you to have a toll bar?)

You make it sound like I'm being unreasonable. We'll see. I might even sign up for Xtra the way this is going. Just climb right on into the Mother Ship. :-)

Well, to them, you are :P.  Still, I've heard good things about Telecom of late, but the whole "mothership" thing doesn't really apply any more - Chorus isn't (or soon won't be) owned by Telecom, and they own the lines.
