I just VNC'ed in to test it again, and it has come right just as mysteriously as it started. So, who knows what was happening, but it isn't happening any more. I'll chalk it up to the mysteries of tech.

Aaaand... it went down again. I've since discovered that it's the OVH network as a whole that I can't get to via slingshot, and the traceroute just times out somewhere between here and London but outside Slingshot's jurisdiction. So I'll just wait this one out!
