Hey,

So basically I downloaded BF3 beta last week and the Forza 4 demo today. They are both around 1.3gb. I checked my usage just now and I have 1,667MB used and this is my whole usage for my month which began 9 days ago. I also have 2 other people who use it too. Its really odd, I use TUC to track my usage.

Can anyone explain whats up with this???

Thanks,
Evan

How can you be sure that the XBox didn't do any updates, etc?

I have to say I've just checked my usage and the BF3 beta download isn't showing either... Perhaps they've got unmetered Xbox live stuff now to go with the Steam Content server? That would be pretty sweet!

From what I've seen it should be possible to cache the XBox Live stuff at the ISP level.

I'm saying Snap is showing far less than what Xbox Live is using, such as my monthly usage should be far higher than what it is.

WHOOAA If this is the truth then I think Snap should be using it as a market ploy. They would pull in tons of people, all my mates have always said why doesnt an ISP offer unmetered XBL downloads.

Could we get an opinion from a Snap employee please

Hello,

We have been having a bit of a play with this, most of the data that you refer to will be coming off an Akamai Content Distribution network, and at Snap we have 2 sets of these, Flash servers (for things like some TVNZ) and file servers for things like Microsoft downloads etc

The problem is that the content changes on these all the time, sometimes downloads will come from local CDN's, sometimes from overseas caches, and in most cases ISP's have no control over this. the other issue is that we have no way of informing our customers if their download is coming off our CDN, or if its coming off a CDN on the other side of the world, this is all controlled by the content provider, however you can make a best guess assumption, but this probably wont suit most users.

To answer your question is Xbox Live not counted as data - No officially it is counted, but if your data counter does not increase then just take that as a bonus! But we are working on all sorts of different options and scenarios so watch this space..
