Lost connection to my home machine about 25 minutes ago, and http://snap.net.nz/ won't resolve let alone show me a website.

Correct, dsl services plus fibre and snap voice are all down here. Seems they've totally fallen off the map.

I was just saying to someone the other day we could get rid of our second ADSL connection because Snap just don't go down..
I can connect to some other Snap ADSL IP addresses but that is about it. At least their phone is now ringing again

Haha same here.

Using our trusty VF ADSL for now. For some reason, we have gone over our cap, so are at dial up speeds with VF. :(
Also means our Terminal server doesnt work well because of the reduced speed.

Bring back Snap!

I'm in Hastings and PPP auth wasn't working for half an hour or so.
All up and running now however...

One thing I noticed too was their 0800 number was down.

Um.. no point. My main problem from last week (slow response and timeouts to google services) is still a problem this week.

And I had this same problem about a month ago. It lasted a few days and then just miraculously fixed itself.

But generally, Snap is very good. Just wish they would sort this problem out.

We here rely heavily on Google Apps services etc, as well as youtube and have not noticed any impact when on Snap...

Could it be a setting of yours?

Thats what I though too. But did some traffic sniffing and there are timeouts and slow responses to some of the google servers. Got a response from Snap and they have admitted there is a problem, and they actively trying to solve it.

I've noticed it taking longer to connect to Google recently, too.

I think they're still having major problems with routing.

Facebook's static.ak.fbcdn.net hostname resolves to: a749.g.akamai.net [202.124.127.104]

So Facebook is not working on Snap.

Sydney Herald www.smd.com.au resovles to a1040.g.akamai.net [202.124.127.105]

So that's not working either.

If you then do a tracert to those IP's on the same subnet in question here's how they resolve:

a749.g.akamai.net [202.124.127.104]

&

105.127.124.202.static.snap.net.nz [202.124.127.105]

So it appears to me it's possibly a route issues to Snap's Akamai caches? Or outside of Snap but still Akamai related?

Gavin.
