I have a quick question to someone who can help me out with a little solution.

I have someone I want to help out with switching to 2 Degrees Business.

They currently have a mobile plan with Vodafone and 2 Free2Call (0800) number terminating to the VF mobile number.

There is a locked discussion on here where someone wanted to port to 2 Degrees and mentioned that he might try WxC. Another user also mentioned that he could keep his 0800 number with Vodafone and have it terminate on the 2 Degrees network. Can someone please tell me if this is actually possible? In theory, the account with VF is not closing, just the mobile number is porting out and the terminating mobile number is remaining the same. The 0800 number should be billed to the customer just the same I would think.

Has anyone actually tried doing this yet?

I'd greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Thanks,

Cameron.

Hi Cameron

A free2call number can terminate to any number on any network in NZ

The catch is that *we* cannot provide you with the 0800 number. You would need to have another provider setup the number for you, pointing at your 2degrees mobile number.

I moved my 0800 number from Vodafone to WxC when I moved my 021 number to 2degrees, because the information I had at the time said 2degrees couldn't support 0800 numbers. It turns out that's incorrect, but 2degrees can't do the whole job. WxC can, and it works fine. Minimum charge $7/month or so.

Thanks Salty. The 0800 numbers are already provisioned on VF so I think it must just be a matter of porting his mobile out.

Thanks Don. I do have contacts with VF so I can get this done. I just needed to check that this could be done first. Are you working with 2 Degrees or Vodafone?

It's okay mate. I am a Business Consultant/Account Manager for a 2 Degrees Dealer. I actually used to work for VF in Hamilton before I switched. I just never came across something like this. haha. I do have a question for you though.. What/who is POB? I've seen it here, Facebook and Twitter.

(This is my first time multi-quoting here on Geekzone. Apologies if I muddled it up)

Thanks Timmmay!

I have looked into this option however WxC charges more than VF for mobile-mobile calling. It still could be cheaper but it would also be easier to just leave the Free2Call number as they are. Cheers anyway bud!

An 0800 number is not a physical number as such, it's only a virtual number that always points to a psysical number to terminate.

It makes no difference who your 0800 and mobile are with, the advantage of being with Vodafone however is you get great pricing for termination on a Vodafone mobile.

I don't use WxC to call out. If anyone calls my 0800 number WxC sends the call to my 2degrees cellphone. I get charged for the incoming call to WxC and the connection outward to 2degrees. Since i'm a relatively low user that's fine.

Vodafone has a great deal with 50c/minute flat rate with no minimums.

Neither.  I'm a 2Talk reseller and I can sort an 0800 to hit your mobile, land line or what ever you need.
