At the moment 2D offers $10 for 100MB national data and in the broadband zone, $20/1GB (among others).

I never use 1GB a month so it does not make sense to sign up for that pack but I do use more than 100MB (which is what comes with my monthly plan).

Just wondering what users (and 2D) think about a 500MB plan for $10 or perhaps a 1GB plan for $20 as it is now but it lasts 2 months?

I would sign up for that in a heartbeat.

In the last 6 or so months I have been amazed that in at least 3 of those months I have run out of my 1GB pack within 2 days of it expiring - seems perfect for me :-D

A 500mb addon would be wonderful.

While I cannot tell you the nature of the new plans, I do know that there are new data and smartphone plans launching soon. Alongside the expansion of their range of phones (which will include the Samsung Galaxy S2)

I'm not sure if your expectations of half the data for half the price, or of a two month expiry term are realistic. I do agree, though, that there is a gap to be filled so perhaps 250mb in the broadband zone for $10 with a one month expiry would be a good opportunity for them.

Personally I normally use between 500mb and 800mb per month and I'm happy with the value that I get from the 1Gb plan.

+1

I use the $20 / 1GB as a backup or filler when the 2GB data quota on my main account runs low. In that case, I wifi tether to a 2Degrees phone with the 1GB on it. Yes, you have to have two phones to do this...and it helps if they both run Android.

I guess with wifi at home, at work, free wifi in the city (CBD Free) and the fact I get 100MB as part of my phone plan, I would find it hard to use 1GB a month unless I got into serious streaming of music etc. So I am reluctant to spend $20 for that. Now $10 for 500MB - I would buy that, put it on my phone and then use it with the phone and my Xoom.

Or as I noted, have the 1GB last two months.

Those who are using 1GB/month are unaffected since you are okay with this plan and on those months where you don't hit 500MB, then it's a bonus for you.

I'd also probably use this pack if it existed. The only problem is that it would surely see a drop in usage by current users. There'll be people, similar to alasta, using 500MB or a bit more that if they could buy a 500MB pack for half the price would reduce their usage to keep under the 500MB whereas now they use, for example, 800MB just because they've already paid for it. Whether this is balanced by the new users, like you and me, would be hard to guess.

I too would be more likely to buy a $10 500mb pack over a $20 1gb pack.
I also like the Telecom XT value pack talk text data $20 month for 20mins calling 1000 txts and 200mb, it beats the 2degrees $19 combo pack because of more data, IMO

I was just asking about a better way to sell the same data which might be more acceptable to 2D than providing a plan with more data at the same price. But if they offered it, I would take it up.

$10 for 500MB and $20 for 1GB are not the same pricing.

Correct - if you guys did use your current pricing model the plan would be $10 for 400mb - and this ignores your current "rules" on data expiry, if those rules were included also the plan would last less than a month.  I agree with posters above, a lot of people who use <500mb are on the 1GB as they dont have a choice, and would downgrade given the opportunity.  This puts 2degrees in a difficult position.

I'd possibly take up $10 for 400MB. I'm not sure exactly how much mobile data I use, it's always less than 1GB but well more than 100MB.

Strictly speaking they are not of course but in terms of GB/$ they are.

As the OP I know if there were a $20/1GB/60 days or $10/500MB for 30 days I would buy it. But I can see that there is potential loss in revenue for those who might be buying 1GB and only use about 600MB who might switch to the 500MB plan and manage their usage more carefully.

I'm currently just making do with the 100mb allocated with my plan.  However if there was 500mb for $10 then I probably would spend an extra $10 and grab that bundle. So I would spend more not less if there was a smaller data option.

That was my point. 1gb for $20 I would not buy but 500mb for $10 I would purchase in a heartbeat. Or 1gb for $20 that is good for two months.
