Hi, to cut a long story short here,

I have a family member, on 2degrees who has had a family issues, the results are that she gets messaged non stop by her soon to be ex husband. She has requested to me, that she wants a new number, to stop him harrassing her, but the account is in his name, and she is on a contract. She could go out to get a new number, but then she will get paid some horrendous amount, to cancel the contract.

Is there any way, that she can get a new number, the account put into her name, and all without paying the massive contract termination fee?

Thanks

It would seem to me if the account is in his name and they won't change the number because of that fact then it would be him stuck with the bill if the contract would be cancalled, point this out to 2 degrees and give them the choice, making it clear that it is them who have told you that the contract is in his name not your, send the bill to him or if they want to make you liable, then youhave the right to change the number.

By law all things in his name are under her name. She would be responsible for the fee as well. If he could prove she uses it exclusively then she'll get stuck with the whole fee and not just half.

Well that been the case there is no reason for 2 degrees to deny changing the phone number at her request.

Basically you just need to push the point with 2 degrees, which way do they want it, and then go with that
