I signed up to the Oocon Genius when it first came out and sine then I have noticed poor internet performance but in particular with my local network.

Since movig to the BoB router my wireless has gone on a go slow.  Yes I had a dual N band and gigabit prior but now I cant even get Windows Media Centre to work without it dropping out on my xbox at some point.  Add to that trying to get skype or video calling via messenger to stay up for more than 2 minutes in near on impossible.

I have tried changing my wireless settings around on my laptop but still no better.

Has anyone seen these problems or have any ideas?

My Xbox is hardwired

Laptop has an Intel 5100AGN

My previos router could handle Wireless from my laptop through to myxbox no issue at all.  File copy times are horrendous as well.

Do you have the latest network drivers for your laptop? And are you using AES security rather than TKIP?

Just use the E3000 as an AP if you're unhappy with the Genius wireless performance.

From what I have read the E3000 wont do that it is one of the missing features. Will research some more and see what I can find out.

As a side note can you use the Xnet Pre Configure ATA to hook into orocn rather than genius. Just think outside the square.

Thanks

Every wireless router can function as an AP, it doesn't matter what brand or model it is. Simply disable DHCP and plug into a LAN port.

A VFX ATA will work fine, but you'll want to search the threads on here regarding this first as the SIP ALG needs to be disabled.
