Hi Folks,

I moved into a new place in Parnell a few months back, just after they upgraded all the cabinets in the area.

I assumed I'd get decent speed as the cabinet was directly outside my house, then it'd be on fibre to the through to the exchange?

Stats from my Netgear DGN2000 suggest otherwise:

Connection Speed 3795 kbps 912 kbps
Line Attenuation 36.0 db 18.8 db
Noise Margin 6.4db 8.7 db

I tried the Orcon helpdesk a couple of times, but they have closed the support ticket twice without a reply. Shouldn't I be getting something better than:

Thanks.

Your connection stats indicate you're connected to Orcon ULL gear in the exchange. If your home is fed from a Telecom cabinet you need to contact orcon and ask to have your connection migrated back to a Telecom Wholesale connection.

You can tell if you're fed from a cabinet by looking at the Telecom Wholesale page www.telecomwholesale.co.nz/maps

There are 2 other current threads on here today with people with the very same issue, and probably 10 or so threads in the last 6 weeks from people with the very same issue.

To save everybody who replies to this thread repeating things over and over again like a stuck record I suggest you read this thread if you want to understand the problems.
