While wearing my tinfoil hat I noticed that the usage meter was not working.

I use it a few times during my billing cycle to check where I am up to and the last couple of months I have been close to my limit so I have used it in the last day to try and do some downloads to use up what is left before it rolls over to the next billing cycle.

It seems to always work for me but I now remember that it was not working in the latter half of the last day of my billing cycle for the last two months.   Making it very hard for me to manage using my last bits of data.  In the end I dont risk it so that I dont run half a gig over and pay for a full 10 gigs.

     Anyone else noticed this?

No its not a conspiracy, just a series of unfortunate incidents.
If you PM me your account details i can check your account and see why its not recording, if that is still the case.

It has its ups and downs but its a lot more reliable than other ISP's....

I noticed it was down again, once Orcon fixed it I had to restart my router for data to show again.

If thats the case then what happens to all the other clients who didn't restart theirs?

Hi Paul,  I am not too worried about it.  It was a bit tongue in cheek as I know no one at Orcon would ever think to implement such a feature.  With all my time at vodafone nothing like that would ever be suggested and I wouldn't think it would be any different at Orcon.

As I say, just my tin foil hat after it happening twice consecutively at the end of the month when I want it the most ;)

Is it a more wide spread problem? Ive noticed mine stuck at 0.15 gb for a few days now....

ok, on the same vane.. I checked out my usage yesterday and it looked under so today I checked and my counter seems to be going up now.

I checked my usage on the account and this is what I have. It has not counted a number of days. Now, I dont care if I dont use all my gigs. I could be one gig under or 10 gigs under, I dont care if I have spare but I dont want this coming back to haunt me come the end of my billing cycle where is adds gigs to my usage after the meter has told me something different.

Orcon guys, will these days be forgotton forever or is my meter useless to me for the rest of the month because I dont know what I pulled down during this period.

I am happy if these days are recovered and my usage metered as long as they come back in time to let me know I wont go overboard.

I just dont want a meter telling me X and then a bill telling me Y and charging excess.
thanks,
Jason

It completely depends on what the issue was with the billing system and it's best to always assume you're going to be billed for the data you use.

If you do however notice a massive discrepancy ( the common one we've seen is your entire month-to-date's usage has been added to itself) then call the CSRs immediately and state you think there's an issue.

Otherwise if you notice some free days, smile and get a warm fuzzy feeling, but don't try to take advantage of it because you have no idea if the data will get pulled from backups/alternative sources. :)

The online usage checker is informational to help keep track during the month.  Your invoice/bill at the end of the month is what matters.

It was sorted out for me so I am happy about that.   Just on a couple of points though.

I always assume I will be billed, hence my query.  The problem is not that I want free data but that I need to know how much I have used so I don't go over my quota.

The bill at the end of  the month is what matters but If I got told I was 3 gigs under my quota and then got billed for a new block of data and my bill said I went 2 gigs over I would not be happy.  I have come to expect that I can reply on usage meters, whether they are from my isp, my mobile internet or my power bill.
