I have seen and heard a lot about other ISPs raising the data caps on their plans without raising the cost. I joined Snap because I had good experience with their customer service during my stint at Halls of Residence and have not regretted that angle of my decision.

I'm on the new plan, I pay $105 a month and get free 03 calling, $2 youtube and 5 GB of data and 25GB of addon data. There's a bunch of other things but they're mostly useless (like TVNZ on Demand unmetered etc).

Now that was great value last year, but now the cap is really low for the price, it's 1/2 the cap of Telecom & VF for example. So my question is this, is Snap considering raising the caps on all its plans and addon packs.

Now just a preemptive blurb here, I'm not raging or planning on moving, just asking a question about what I see as a valid point.

I'm happy with Snap, but very interested to see how they will react to this.
Good service means a lot, but it is not the only thing I look for in an ISP...

Snap was one of the first ISP's to drop prices earlier in the year, they won't have planned or budgeted to drop them again so soon.

You guys will be holding your breath for awhile, methinks.

Quite likely, the current plans were incredibly juicy back when they came in, the problem is that the data caps are now behind the times even though the prices are fine. Hence the question

Snap also do that $5 3 day all you can eat deal I believe and along with the $2 unlimited Youtube, they still sound pretty competitive to me.

The unlimited thing is midnight to 0700, good for downloading, not so good for gaming

That's 0100 to 0700 (NOT midnight to 0700).

Snap has absorbed a recent price decrease. GST was raised last year but Snap kept their prices the same.

What does it say in yours?

Tried adding additional data but only got the old pricing and data amounts. Have reread additional data options: the one I selected $10 --->  5 Gb         New data cap will be 12 GB. Not too sure what this means

"I selected $10 --->  5 GB

That's the regular pricing. It means you have currently used 7GB of data. If you pay an additional $10 you can increase your data cap to 12GB (7GB + 5GB). That's $10 (incl. GST) for 5GB of extra data, or $2 per gigabyte.

Unusually Snap uses base 2 gigabytes (2^30) even though real-world data transfer is based upon base 10 gigabytes (10^9). If you add 1GB of data you're given 1024MB, a small bonus compared to 1,000,000,000 bytes.

Remember if you can wait until Friday 8pm you can download for 60 whole hours for free. There is likely to be people who download 200GB+ (backing up the Internet, or as Snap puts it, downloading "a local copy of Wikipedia").
