Howdy,

For the last month ever second Youtube video buffers but when I play it it goes so far then freezes and I have to reload it. I can replay all of the video up to that point. Now when I swap to 2degrees MBB the problem stops, so is there an issue with Snap's Youtube Cache?

whats ment to happen is one user from snap views a video then its cached, the next person goes to view the same video its already cache then that user gets the video like its locally on their machine.

but this isnt happening for some reason.

as posted in the low throughput thread i said this,

"i guess all i can really say is where the hell is snaps youtube caching server cos it aint working. visit a video then 15 mins later go back and still buffering like mad, i thought that a cache server is just that. the first person to view the video has to fully download it, then after that the 2nd person should have it nice and almost instant due to it being cached."

noone ever answered that question.

Yeah I get that, but reloading a video is a pain. You don't even find out if it's going to freeze until about 4 seconds in. The progress bar goes to the end, but you can't

I have successfully tested the following:

With Snap $1 youtube/google add switched on - Youtube video download seem slow. I have to pause for a while before watching them.
Snap $1 addon switched off - I am able to run HD videos just fine, and there is no need to pause/wait before watching them.

Its definitely got something to do with the cache.

I too can verify the above statement,

I had the $2 deal but have taken it off as I was not able to use youtube properly

So the add-on appears to slow down the speeds... cache server issue ?

Hi  BraaiGuy & zCelicaDude,

Would you be able to do some more testing and post your findings up? Like, watching one video with the YT add-on added, then remove it and watch another video and post up if you notice a difference doing that.

Awesome! Cheers.

I have been playing around with this for the past week and the buffering problem now seems to have been resolved.

I've never had the addon but have always have pulled regardless from the Snap Cache and never had any issues so I doubt its a cache issue.

Hi BraaiGuy,

Good to hear, please keep us updated if you have any further issues here. I am not aware of anything wrong with anything at the moment!

Out of interest does anyone know what the Caching system Snap is using?
If its Oversi sounds like the VC servers need to be restarted.

Youtube has been nothing but trouble for me since I got the addon, all videos refuse to load fully, instead waiting until I catch up then buffering. Also speeds are incredibly poor 90% of the time, trying to watch something uncached in 720p is frustrating as hell.
