Just something I noticed, but both my wifes and my cell phones were losing a few texts after porting our numbers to 2 degrees, which seems to be a reasonably common problem.

The problem seems to have become better after associating our numbers to the sim card and enabling text on roaming through the messaging app.
I had to download an app on android which fixes the phone number on the sim card but I think Nokias and iPhones have this build in. Worked on a u8150. It also allowed me to have my picture on the message app, which is fun.

There may be another, 2 degrees back end type, reason why things are now working better and I'm sure everything is more complicated than this, but it cant hurt to try and see if it helps.

The answer seems to be contact the provider with the date/time/number of the originating text(s) and they will cooperate with other telcos to examine logs and check the message path is set up correctly, and in some cases it might not be, and they fix it. I'm curious to know if you have tried that approach, and what your remaining problems are.

It only happened once or twice and seems to have resolved itself and stopped happening so no more problem. Thought it may have been something to do with giving the sim card a number and enabling text message retrieval on roaming. If it is not, I bow to superior expertise, sorry for trying to be helpful.

IMHO it is a good idea to get those messages looked at anyway to get some certainty around the situation.

I am considering a number port for a phone I will probably end up supporting so all info is good info to me. I'll remember to look at the sim association etc if only because I have not heard of that before. So thanks for that.

SMS does not provide any guaranteed delivery so there is every chance it was just a random loss for any number of network or non-network reasons. But it would be good to nail it down a bit more, and there is very good cooperation going on for that purpose.
