I know that 2 degrees used to sell a standalone wifi 3g router for a reasonable price, but I cant find it anymore.

Still available instore at all? Friend needs one asap as their phones in the street are dead and wont be working for a while because its a cable problem.

Otherwise if someone has one spare they can lend for a while..

Well I was looking for the wifi hotspot version also and they were sold out and no more coming. I asked why and they said since most Android phones can do that they didn't think it was worth selling as a standalone product.

Since I wanted one for my tablet I purchased a Vodafone 858 from Trademe for $100, stuck in my 2D SIM card I had purchaed with my 2D USB modem and use it as a wifi hotspot. It works pretty well.

Vodafone are selling a wifi 3G hot spot for $129 I think that comes with 2G of data.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Where did you see that? its $199 here - Stupidly long link to vodafone store

Also the specs are confusing, it says GSM bands and 2100 so I have no idea what 3g bands it is, since the GSM bands hardly matter on a 3g broadband router since if you dont have 3g its useless. Would be nice if the vodafone hardware was 3g 850 as well since that means I can use an XT sim in it.

Yeah, I was more hoping for 850 as well, since their business is all on XT so would make sense to stick with telecom, there is a netcomm one on telecom for the same price so if the $129 price is gone then the telecom one is a no brainer.

That freq list on vodafone is just full of confuse.

I think it was the Vodafone shop in Wellington on Lambton Quay.

Ok, I will try a vodafone store and see what they have, otherwise DX have a AT&T branded mifi for about $70US which assuming it is unlocked would be great as it lists 850/1900/2100 3G
