Just wondering is it possible to connect to a Genius account using the unit's connection details on an Asterisk box of my own?

Tried it out using a friend's Genius account details on an Asterisk box but registration fails - configuration issue at Orcon's end? Or something special needed to be done at the Asterisk end?

Connection string: 9xxxxxxx:password@sip1.orcon.net.nz

Also tried: 9xxxxxxx:password@sip1.orcon.net.nz/9xxxxxxx

Now thats an interesting topic.
I recently tried this my self with equally useless results. Interestingly enough, asterisk reports that the trunks are connected, but the registration fails with a timeout error.

Does Orcon block registratioins that don't come from Genius hardware? Or possibily mac filtering? Some other kind of blocking?

I wouldnt hold my breath for an answer to that ;) You might get a "yes" and thats it.

Genius isnt marketed as a typical VOIP product so I wouldnt expect Orcon to offer any "tech" info on it just yet....

This is IMHO anyway, could be wrong ;)
