Have activated a new $10 2degrees card. Have checked the balance, but it is zero. Do I have to fill in a form to get the free credit with it? This page infers there is free credit on a new account http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/welcome on step 5. eg Once you have used up your free credit you will need to top it up.... normally there is some free credit when you get a new card. At least there was with Vodafone and Telecom.

Thanks. They probably need to update their welcome page then, as mentioning free credit is a bit misleading. I actually expected that it would have $10 credit on it as it was a $10 card.

Implies is close enough. Whatever the case, they shouldn't be mentioning any free credit, if they don't actually provide it :)

A $2 SIM came with no credit, but a $5 SIM came with $5.
I thought the new $10 SIM came with $10.

I could be wrong, it often happens.

Amazing how a SIM card probably made in China for 5 cents (if that) ends up retailing here in NZ for $10.
Sorta get the feeling that consumers are being robbed.

I thought the new $10 SIM came with $10.

I could be wrong, it often happens.

The new $10 SIM comes with no credit but does get 10 minutes of National calling upon the first topup

$10 does seem too high, but I still prefer it over the $30 charged by the other two. That's just ridiculous.

Actually, ours are made in Thailand, and cost a lot more than 5 cents. And while it is indeed more expensive than at launch, $10 is still cheaper than the other guys as I am sure you are already aware.

Giffgaff a 100% owned subsidiary of 02 is giving them away as part of the deal and has been since 2009 in the UK.
