Hello
I have switched my broadband from telecom to slingshot couple of weeks ago, but downloading speed seems to be not correct as a non-unlimited plan.

Weird thing is that I get 12Mbps from Internode host on speedtest.net but limited to 1.5~2Mbps from any other hosts (eg. worldxchange, vodafone). In short, speed is capped to around 100 ~ 200KB/s on most of websites.

I cannot watch any HD trailers (480p, 720p) on apple website and loading vids on youtube even slow like turtle.
After a long conversation with a guy at slingshot just couple of mins ago, I sent him tracert and ping results on couple of websites as requested, but I am not sure whether this will fix the problem.

Can anyone suggests the solution for this issue?? or anyone having similar issues like me?

thanks

johnr: So you wanted Full speed internet with no traffic shaping?? You will have to dig deeper into the wallet

Suggestion go back to your old ISP that speed worked well on

What is your ping to modem, DNS, tracert to national and international like?

Okay i did not know that slingshot does shape traffic?
How shouldve consumers know for each of ISPs how they manage their traffic if they do not specifically say so on their website? And I never seen any ISPs shape traffics on HTTPS for limited data plans.

The speed is 84.98KB/s anyways

I am sure traffic shaping is covered in the terms and conditions for AYCE

I believe AYCE users are in their own bandwidth pool separate from capped plans but active traffic management is still applied to all plans on Slingshot.

Slingshot seem to a have problem with access/speed from akamai recently, it was mentioned in some other threads here or on gpforums. I think they are already working on it.

The San Jose Internode speedtest server seems to have some odd behaviour from different ISP's try some of the LA servers or the other San Jose server (SmugMug).

Sadly running speedtests to sites like speedtest.net these days is rather irrelevant as many ISPs simply have rules/flavors in places which prioritise speed-test traffic.

Need to take actual real-world usage as the only true benchmark.

Sad seeing how many people failed to read the OP and jumped to conclusions (the first replies).

Let's see how this is solved.
