Hi guys,

our internet connection is down We are in henderson. It has been down for about an hour now. Neighbour is also on Slingshot, and they have having the same problem. Modem syncs, but can't pick up an actual connection.

Slingshot - This is really not good enough, as there was a similar outage not even a month ago and it's happening again, haven't you learnt from your mistakes?

If you wondering how I'm posting I'm using a 3G cellphone to find out what the hell is going on!

*Touch wood* Its still fine in Christchurch atm

But yeah, theyve been pretty shocking lately, several short outages, and Ive been suffering degraded speeds & a lot of timeouts in the past month or so to international websites. Most of those issues seemed to have been fixed in the past few days, but then there's this to top it all off!

Out in Wellington too. Called the 0800 and there was no related fault option 2 > 1 but correct fault was read out when I went to report the issue opt 2>2.

It finally showed up on the network updates page and tried to sign up to get notified once the fault is resolved but a) it REALLY hard to use on a phone (android) and it would not accept an 11 digit number. WTF!!

http://slingshot.co.nz/networkstatus
  • Affecting: UBA, Auckland, Dunedin, Gisborne, Invercargill, Masterton, Napier, Palmerston North, Wellington, Levin.
  • Start: 11/03/2012 7:40:00 p.m.    End: TBC   Get Mobile Updates

so how many outages, total, have you had in the last 12 months?  you're paying for a residential grade connections with no guarantees i assume.  if you think SS is not good enough you can try another ISP, but with what you're paying dont expect too much.

Try checking some other network status pages to see how much greener the grass is elsewhere:
http://www.xnet.co.nz/network-status/
http://www.snap.net.nz/support/network-status
http://www.orcon.net.nz/support/network_status
http://www.actrix.co.nz/networkstatus.php?history=Connectivity
http://dts.net.nz/category/network-status/

(perhaps a few of these ISPs should what Telecom and Telstraclear appear to do and show only current events.. or do what vodafone does and show no obvious status page at all)
